Transferring

Today was a busy day, so I was really thankful for an easy to prepare and execute activity.

Transferring with Rice

Carter is 3 years, 2 months old.

You will need:

2 small shallow bowls (about the size of a cupcake)
Teaspoon
Tray
Rice to half fill one of the bowls

Procedure:

1.        Set out the two bowls on the tray with the spoon on the right. Put the rice bowl on the left (reverse for left-handed child).

2.       Pick up the spoon and begin to transfer the rice until the bowl is empty.

3.       Reverse the bowls so the bowls and invite your child to try.

Conclusion: Carter loved this, too, though not as much as Pouring from yesterday.  After about 15 minutes transferring and reversing the bowls, he announced that he was ready to put away these materials and get back out the pitcher and cups from yesterday, which we did.  After a week and a half of working with Carter, I am already noticing a difference in the way he treats materials.  Also, he’s mentally worked “Activity Time” into his day.  He expects them after breakfast.  I love that!

These activities are here for sharing.  If you like it, (say so, then) grab the link and pass it on.  It’s the highest form of bloggy love! ♥
